James Paul Dillingham

Dillingham, James Paul, 92, of Wichita, died June 23, 2008 in Wichita. He was a well known teacher and coach in Alma for many years. Paul was born March 31, 1916 in Mayetta, Kan., son of Grace Mabel Ross and Carl Leon Dillingham. He graduated from Alma High School in 1934 as Salutatorian. Paul graduated from Kansas State University in 1938. He then embarked on a lifelong career as a teacher and coach. He taught 36 years at Alma High School. He serviced in the United States Army Medical Corps. He attended Emporia State University and completed his Master's Degree in 1955. In 1989 he was inducted into the Kansas Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. Paul married Ruth Lucille Keitzmann, on August 23, 1940. Survivors include: wife, Lucille; daughters, Nancy Waite of Sammamish, Wash., Phyllis Feyh of Battlefield, Mo., Marcial McGee of Valley Center, Kan,; son, Jerry of Denmark, Iowa; brothers, Donald of Topeka, C. Roy of McFarland; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services 11 a.m., Saturday, St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. Mr Dillingham will lie-in-state starting at 2 p.m., Friday at Campanella-Gentry Funeral Home, Alma, with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Online condolences: www.campanellafuneral.com
